15 Jobs, Professional Development Reflections, Applied AI Course, and LI Top Voice Badge!
Newsletter #64
Hello hello, Friends 👋
Just got back from an amazing week of leadership training in the NALA program with the Society of International Business Fellows (SIBF) in Atlanta—and I’m still processing what a profound experience it was. A week filled with personal growth, deep reflection, relevant content, and new friendships.
It also got me thinking about the past 15 years and some of the other professional development programs and fellowships I’ve been lucky enough to participate in—especially during moments of transition or reinvention in my career.
So I wrote a new long-form article (yes, I’m getting into these!) that walks through six professional development opportunities that really made a difference in my journey:
➡️ What they were
➡️ How they were structured
➡️ Why the timing mattered
➡️ And what I took away from them
I’ve also included a bunch of photos from each experience—to help bring the stories to life and add some color to the reflections.
I’d love to hear from you: What professional development programs, or transformational leadership experiences have made a difference in your journey?
What are you looking for next? Save this post for when you’re thinking about your next professional development move. Share it with someone exploring their next chapter.

Parting Thought: LinkedIn Top Voice badge.
Last note: this month I was honored (and a little surprised, honestly) to receive the LinkedIn Top Voice badge. It’s a bit of recognition that really does mean a lot—especially now, when so many in the global development and social impact space are navigating layoffs, frozen budgets, and career uncertainty.
This badge came after years of building community on LinkedIn—and it wouldn’t have happened without your support, feedback, and conversation.
Also want to give real credit to LinkedIn: from being selected for the inaugural Creator Accelerator, to having my posts amplified to wider audiences, to the opportunity to film two full LinkedIn Learning courses, the platform has invested in me and my work in a way I’m deeply grateful for.
So if you’re navigating what’s next—or know someone who is—here are a few free resources I’ve created with LinkedIn that might help:
✅ New Course: Career Transitions for Government Workers
If you’ve worked in federal or multilateral agencies and are exploring what’s next, this one’s for you.
✅ Classic Course: Building a Career of Positive Social Impact
Still one of the most popular courses I’ve created. Practical advice for finding purpose and momentum.
✅ Weekly Job Roundups
Every Thursday I share standout openings across global health, climate action, philanthropy, tech for good, and more. You can always find the latest one on my LinkedIn profile. Huge thanks to Caroline Ouwerkerk for helping power this behind the scenes.
Thanks again for being part of this community. If there’s a resource or topic you’d like me to dig into next, just reply and let me know. Hoping I can use this platform to help more folks so keep me posted on what I can do with and for you!
Keep Building, Nick
